Description
Masonry Depot’s bluestone treads are made from New York Bluestone, also known as Pennsylvanian Bluestone — a natural stone stair tread prized for its blue- gray color. The treads are sawn cut on all sides, giving them a uniform shape and a smooth finish. They are available in thicknesses ranging from 1½” to 2″.
General Characteristics of Bluestone Treads
Bluestone treads as a product type are well known in the masonry industry for several qualities:
- Durability — Bluestone is naturally dense and weather-resistant, holding up well in all climates
- Slip resistance — The sawn or thermal surface provides traction underfoot
- Aesthetic appeal — The blue-gray tones complement both traditional and contemporary architecture
- Versatility — Commonly used for front entry steps, garden stairs, stoops, pool copings, and retaining wall caps
